Dubai is a modern city, full of contrasts, atmosphere and different cultures. More and more travelers decide to get to know this extravagant and luxurious destination. On this occasion, we will talk about the tips for traveling to Dubai that you have to take into account so that your trip is perfect. If you don’t want to miss anything during your trip, take a look at this post. Now, we will tell you some things you need to know to plan your trip.
Do I need a visa to travel to Dubai?
One of the most important tips for traveling to Dubai is to review the administrative requirements that are required to enter this destination, specifically, if we need a visa or not. If you are an American citizen, you do NOT need any specific visa to travel to Dubai. With the passport you can travel to this destination without any problem.
How to go from Dubai Airport to the Center?
Dubai Airport is located just 15 km from the city center, it has three terminals connected with a free bus that runs every 14 minutes 24 hours a day.
Metro: This is the cheapest way to get from Dubai airport to the city center. However, you must bear in mind that Dubai only has two lines for the entire city, so if your accommodation is not very central, it is best not to use this means of transport.
Depending on the area you want to reach, you should check the route that suits you best, however, the red line is perfect to reach places like Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall or connect with the green line that reaches the old city.
The price of the metro from Dubai airport to the city center costs around 2 dollars, depending on how far you want to go and takes about 60 minutes. You have to buy a card, we recommend the red one and top it up with the trips you want.
Private transfer: as we always tell you, it is the most comfortable way to go from Dubai airport to the city center, however, the price is somewhat higher, it can be around 42 dollars.
Taxi: This is the fastest way to get from Dubai airport to the city center or to your hotel. The taxi usually has a fixed rate of about 10 dollars. It is a good option but you have to carry loose money in case they do not charge you with a card.
Bus: there is a bus service to go from Dubai airport to the city center but we do not recommend it, the traffic is chaotic and it will take a long time to get there.
How to get around Dubai?
Dubai is a huge city, if you stay in the center you can get around using:
Metro: it is a good option although it does not reach all sides. You can use the NOL card that is valid for 10 trips and can be shared with several people.
Taxi: it is the most used means of transport, as it is the fastest, most comfortable and best way to get to any part of the city. It is quite cheap and it is a very safe medium.
Bus: we only recommend it for short journeys.
You cannot miss hiring travel insurance. Without a doubt, we recommend that you book good travel insurance to travel to Dubai, since healthcare in the Emirates is expensive.
Accommodation
We always recommend staying in a central and comfortable place to move around, especially in big cities, and Dubai is one of them, so another tip for traveling to Dubai is related to accommodation. We must start from the basis that sleeping in Dubai is not exactly cheap. The best areas to stay in Dubai are the following:
-Deira: this is one of the old neighborhoods of the city and is another option where to stay in Dubai. It is close to some tourist places such as the Souk of Spices. This area is somewhat cheaper than the previous ones.
-Jumeirah Beach: if you prefer to stay near the beach, this is the perfect place to stay in Dubai. In this neighborhood, hotel prices are high because most are resorts with private beaches.
-Burj Dubai: it is one of the oldest areas of the city and one of the most traditional areas to stay in Dubai. The drawback of this neighborhood is that it does not have a subway, so you will have to get around by taxi.
-Al Bastakiya: practically the same thing happens to the Burj neighborhood, it is one of the oldest areas of the city and it does not have a metro either. Accommodations in these two areas are cheaper.
